Chairman Aaron Chung and Members of the Committee:
Ever since the closure of Hamakua Sugar Company «e have been inrolved in the
promotion of diversified ag along the Hamakua Coast. Our members, 190 strong;
have been gro~~ ing an}thing from papal a, taro, ayuaculture; tropical fruits, to name
a fey` .
We ha~1e been marketing most of our tropical fruits locally, with the exception of
papa~~a ~~~here our biggest market is Japan 1~ ith fruit that has been vapor heat
treated.
An alternative post harrest treatment facilit<~ ill at2ord us another means of
marketing our products and also open up the opportunit< for us to gro~~ a ide
range of tropical fruits for exporting.
