Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 287, reports as follows:
Communication No. 287, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated August 1, 2001, nominates
Mr. J. William Sanborn of Council District 9 to serve on the Hawaii County Salary
Commission.
A lifetime resident of Hawaii, Mr. J. William Sanborn is the branch manager for HomeStreet
Bank. He is also the Principal Broker for Mauna Kea Property Management on a part time basis.
Mr. Sanborn is a member of the Rotary Club of North Hawaii and the Optomist Club of
Honolulu. A member of the Republican Party, he will serve a term to end December 31, 2004.
Pursuant to Section 13-28, Hawaii County Charter, the salary commission shall consist of nine
members appointed by the mayor with the approval of the council.
Although a formal motion to amend was not made, Your Committee would like to report that
Mr. J. William Sanborn's name was misspelled in the communication.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the confirmation of Mr. J. William Sanborn to the
Hawaii County Salary Commission.
