INTRODUCED CARIBBEAN TREE FROGS ON THE ISLAND
OF HAWAII
From Earl William Campbell, III, Project Leader, USDA National
Wildlife Research Center, Hawaii Field Station, dated June 29,
2001, regarding his proposed presentation to the Hawaii County
Council on the Caribbean tree frogs.
Comm. 261.1: From Earl William Campbell, III, Project Leader, USDA National
Wildlife Research Center, Hawaii Field Station, dated July 19,
2001, submitting a general summary on the issue of two introduced
tree frogs species (Eleutherodactylus coqui and E. planirostris), the
spread of tree frog populations throughout the Hawaiian Islands, the
efficacy of current laboratory and field trials aimed at eradication,
and the joint efforts of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Hawaii
Department of Agriculture, and State of Hawaii Department of
Land and Natural Resources to spearhead a coordinated effort to
control introduced tree frogs in infested sites.
