Dear Chairratan Arakaki and Members of the Hawaii County Council:
I sincerely apologize for not tieing able to join you at your council session to show my
personal support for Re:;olution +1125-01. 1 had every intention of befilg there but
ht~ightened airport security and flight cancellations prohibit me from doing so.
I certainly encourage passage of this resolution. Aloha Festivals is a statewide
community celebration and a true expression of fete fabric of our island lifestyle. It is

made possible through the financial conunitment of numerous organisations, inchiding
stlte attd county govcrnrnent, Ind through the donation of a substantial number of hours
of personal time from thousands of volunteers.

Our theme this year is "tics oh-utohano I Na Holokai, Honor the Voyagers." The theme
honors ancient mariners, modern wayfutders who have revived sere art of navigatini; by
the sears, those whc> have explored ne•W horizons, such as the late astronaut Ellison
~nixuka and those who came to Hawai i front other lands and now call Fiawai'i "hom4
