Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Ms. Laura J. Ward of Council District 8 to the
Hawaii County Fire Commission. Ms. Ward is a 34-year resident of Hawaii and
is the owner of TILE IT, a ceramic the retail business. Ms. Ward was formerly
employed by Tile Warehouse, Inc., and Screens and Things, Inc. She has been
a coach for the AYSO and served as president of the Kona Executives
Association. Ms. Ward states that she is not affiliated with any political party. If
confirmed, she will replace Mr. Alexander Biro, who has resigned as the District 8
commissioner. If confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on December 31,
2004.
