COUNTY FIRE COMMISSION
From Mayor Harry Kim, dated September 13, 2001, submitting for
confirmation the following nomination to the Hawaii County Fire
Commission to replace Alexander Biro, who has resigned as the
District 8 Commissioner:
Laura J. Ward of Council District 8, a 34-year resident of
Hawaii and owner of TILE IT, a ceramic the retail
business. Ms. Ward states that she is not affiliated with any
political party. If confirmed, she will serve a term to expire
on December 31, 2004.

(Bill 99) AMENDED, THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30,
2002 (appropriating $33,346 provided by the State of Hawaii
Department of the Attorney General Crime Prevention and Justice
Assistance Division to hire an Administrative Assistant
for the Domestic Violence/Sex Crimes Database pr_o~ram)

Comm. 337: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 01-55, AS
(Bill 100) AMENDED, THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30,
2002 (appropriating $23,320 for the Statewide Program on Parking
for Persons with Disabilities)
From Director of Finance William Takaba, dated September 5,
2001, transmitting the above bill. The 2001 State Legislature has
appropriated funds to the Disability and Communication Access
Board to reimburse the counties for costs incurred in the
administration (issuance) of parking permits to qualified persons
with disabilities. Part of the reimbursement monies will be used to
purchase computer equipment necessary to interface with the
centralized statewide database.

Comm. 338: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 01-56, AS
(Bill 101) AMENDED, RELATING TO PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS AND
FINANCING THEREOF FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 1,
2001 TO JUNE 30, 2002 (adding $61,195 to the Capital Budget
for the Hawaiian Paradise Park Volunteer Fire Station-Water Main
project)
From Director of Finance William Takaba, dated September 6,
2001, transmitting the above bill. Funds for this project lapsed on
June 30, 2001 but work on this project is still incomplete. Funds
must be reappropriated to continue and complete this project.
Comm. 346: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 01-55, AS
(Bill 104) AMENDED, THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30,
2002 (appropriating a $50,000 Public Housing Grant from the
State Department of Business, Economic Development &
Tourism's Housing and Community Development Corporation of
Hawaii)

2001, transmitting the above bill. This grant will help defray
personnel and equipment costs for the community police officers
in the Ka Hale Kahalu'u, Kaimalino and Kealakehe public housing
areas and other neighboring communities with their proactive
crime and drug prevention programs.
Comm. 347: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 01-55, AS
(Bill 105) AMENDED, THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30,
2002 (appropriating a $109,994 Local Law Enforcement Block
Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Justice
Programs for purchase of eighty-six (86) computer workstations
for use with the proposed Records Management S s~ tem)

2001, transmitting the above bill. This system will focus on
improving the quality and completeness of data collected and
should provide the uniformed field officers with enhanced
investigative capabilities.

Comm. 348: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 01-55, AS
(Bill 106) AMENDED, THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30,
2002 (appropriating $33,830.20 in in-lieu fees and interest income
from the fund balance account of the County Housing Revolving
Fund to individual accounts)

2001, transmitting the above bill. The funds will be maintained
separately and will be expended in accordance to the requirements
of each development's agreement.
Comm. 349: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 01-55, AS
(Bill 107) AMENDED, THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30,
2002 (appropriating an additional $29,091 for the Domestic
Violence Prosecution Project Grant, also known as Violence
Against Women)
From Director of Finance William Takaba, dated September 11,
2001, transmitting the above bill. These additional funds will be
used to extend the grant to a full 12 months and fund a Sexual
Assault Response Team (SART) and Sexual Assault Nurse
Examiner (SANE) training class for local authorities.
Comm. 350: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A
(Res. 129-01) MONETARY DONATION OF $400 TO THE DEPARTMENT
OF PARKS AND RECREATION (from the Girl Scouts
attending the Korean-American Girl Scouts Friendship Camp
on the BigIsland)
