Aloha Mr. Chung and Councilmembers,
I am writing to urge you to stand and support the proposed
fruit fly irradiation deinfestation facility. East Hawau is primed for
agricultural ventures and development. Having a viable fruit fly
deinfestation facility will allow for the opportunity of farmers to ship
their fruits and other agricultural products to the mainland USA. We
need this opportunity to export if we are to be a successful and
prosperous farming community.
I was a skeptic of this technology until recently. 1 have become
much more informed about irradiation in the last several months. I
am now convinced that it is entirely safe for our community and
those who eat irradiated foods.
I am asking for your support for building an irradiator here on
the Big Island.
