Subject: Amendment to Chapter 2, Article 5, Hawaii County Code
Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
Attached for your consideration is a bill proposing amendments to Chapter 2, Article 5 of the
Hawaii County Code relating to the duties and qualifications of the Fire Chief and
establishment of a Fire Commission. The bill was prepared by the Office of the Corporation
Counsel. This amendment will bring the Code into conformance with the Charter of the
County of Hawaii as amended by the voters in November, 2000 (Charter Amendment 3).
