Aloha Hawaii County Council
As a Hawaiian educator, concerned about our future, I strongly object to
Bill Vo., 62, appropriating $2,000,000 to built a post harvest treatment facility
on the Big Island. There is absoluteh~ nothing to be gained from this project that.
would serve the good of the general public of our very special island. '.3s a DOE
teacher, I feel it is an outright waste o2 my hard earned cax dollars.
Let's support local farmers in other ways, by giving tax breaks to taro
farmers and other diversified agricultural entrepreneurs, who are growing food for
us here in Hawaii, -the majority of which is still imported from abroad. Rather
than sending in•adiated merchandise to the mainland (which I personalh~ would
nee-er eat:} let's produce our own food first, which would assure better quality and
lower costs for Hawai'i's consumer.
