AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983
(1995 EDITION), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCII. OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 24, article 10, division 1, section 24-253, schedule 1 (10 mile per
hour limit), subsection (c) South Milo, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 edition), is
amended by adding the following to be appropriately numbered and to read as follows:
~ Lihiwai Street the one-way portion, between Keliipio Place and the unnamed
roadway to the~~er and lighthouse.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 10, division 1, section 24-255, schedule 3 (25 mile per
hour limit), subsection (c) South Hilo, item (13), of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995
edition), is amended to read as follows:
(13) Lihiwai Street, from Kamehameha Avenue [extending through
Liliuokalani Park and to its terminus at the intersection with Banyan
Drive.] to the unnamed roadwa
iy nto the pier and lighthouse.
SECTION 3. Chapter 2~1, article 10, division 2, section 24-264, schedule 12 (Stop
intersections), subsection (c) South Hilo, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 edition), is
amended by adding the following to be appropriately numbered and to read as follows:
~ Keli~io Place, at Lihiwai Street.
~ The unnamed raadway into the pier and lighthouse, at Lihiwai Street.
SECTION 4. Chapter 24, article 10, division 2, section 24-266, schedule 14 (Through
streets), subsection (c) South Hilo, item (8), of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 edition), is
amended to read as follows:
(8) Banyan Drive, from Aalapuna Street to Kalanianaole Street.J except at Lihiwai
Street and Kamehameha Avenue.

SECTION 5. Chapter 24, article 10, division 2, section 24-266, schedule 14 (Through
streets), subsection (c) South Hilo, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 edition), is amended
by deleting the following item:
[(55) Lihiwai Street, from Kamehameha Avenue to Mamane Street.]
SECTION 6. Chapter 24, article 10, division 2, section 24-267, schedule 15 (One-way
streets), subsection (c) South Hilo, item (15), of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 edition), is
amended to read as follows:
(15) [Liliuokalani Park Perimeter Road.] Lihiwai Street. All vehicular traffic shall
move in the westerly direction from Keliipio Place [for a distance of one thousand
three hundred sixty feet] to the roadway leading to the pier and lighthouse.
SECTION 7. Material to be repealed is bracketed. New material is underscored. In
printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material and underscoring need not be included.
SEC'T'ION 8. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person
or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications
of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to
this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 9. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
