Re: Salary Ordinance
Enclosed is a resolution to amend the Salary Ordinance to increase the hourly pay rate
for the Student Intern, Student Helper I, and Senior Community Services Aid classes of
work, pursuant to Act 279, SLH 2001 that increases the State of Hawai`i's minimum
hourly wage effective January 1, 2002. This resolution also amends the hourly pay rate
for the Student Helper II class of work.

Act 279, SLH 2001 amended Section 387-2 Minimum Wages, HRS by increasing
the State of Hawaii's minimum hourly wage from $5.25 to $5.75 beginning
January 1, 2002. Section 7 of Salary Ordinance No. 01-59 lists the Student
Intern, Student Helper I, and Senior Community Services Aid classes of work
with the hourly pay rate of $5.25. Section 7 also includes the Student
Helper II class of work with the hourly pay rate of $5.75, $.50 more than the
Student Helper I class.
'11zus, pursuant to Act 279, the attached resolution amends Salary Ordinance
No. 01-59 by increasing the hourly pay rate for the Student Intern, Student
Helper I, and the Senior Community Services Aid classes from $5.25 to
$5.75 and the hourly pay rate for the Student Helper II from $5.75 to $6.25.
