The State Department of Transportation Public Affairs Office -Safe Community Program will be providing funds to hire security services for the Napo`opo'o Wharf during the evenings for atwo-month trial period. The purpose of this grant is to minimize or eliminate calls related to alcohol & drug abuse, speeding and reckless driving, and violation of rules. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Police Department. STRATEGIES: • Continue with cleanup and beautification efforts. • Provide someone to lock the gate and provide security for the area on a two- month trial. • Members will unlock the gate each morning. S OLUTION/IMPLEMENTATION: • Secure the services of an individual to lock the gate and provide security during the evening hours for atwo-month trial period. • Continue beautification efforts throughout the trial period. EVALUATION: • Number of 911 calls for service to the area • Number of alcohol arc drug related incidents/arrests in the area. • Number of citations issued in the area for speed, reckless driving or other traffic related violations. • Number of violations reported or cited by DLNR personnel. TASKS: • Select individual to lock gate and provide security for the area. • Collect data and prepare report of results of two-month trial.
