I am a eighteen year old resident oft island, who works, pays taxe nd votes.
I vehemently oppose Bill No. 62 which roposes that the county puts ~~-our;L~x dollars for
an irradiation facility on this island. Su h a plant is a bad idea tggr who pays for it.
Under no circumstances should we all radioactive materials su~ch~a~ Vv~ul e~ u3~d in
such a facility to be brought on t this island. Stay far awayCiyg~; •,this pne please!

I am an eleven year resident of the Bi Island of Hawaii who work's'r~r~~
,pays taxes and votes.
I vehemently oppose Bill No. 62 which roposes that the cou$i~}/~yD~t p r tax dollars for
an irradiation facility for tropical fruit on this island. Such a plant~~ad7id~ no
matter who pays for it. Under no cir mstances should we a o6aOC~'(droaetive, materials
such as would be used in such a facili to be brought on to ~ITaYiab;~~r away from
this one please! We are counting on y as our elected representatives, to listen to the
heartbeat of your constituency, and r lize that a solution that glows in the dark would be
just another BIG PROBLEM. "Safe?" I ouldn't bet MY children's and grandchildren's lives on
that! WHO'S SAYING "safe?" What is EIR authority and how much do they have to
lose? Listen instead to Nobel-Prize minee in Physics, our own distinguished Dr. Paul
Dixon of UH Hilo, one of our most int igent and concerned citizens, who says OF COURSE
NUCLEAR IRRADIATION OF FOOD IS NO SAFE! He has nothing to gain if this is allowed,
monetarily or otherwise. And we ALL ave A LOT TO LOSE if "business" wins over
r a i n s.
