It is abs®lutely time to increase the n1linimurrr tas fr®en 525. to
~ 1 DA.! ! ! fihe flay®r's pr®p®sal glues exempti®ns and c®uers these
wha cane®t pay the full ~1D13. well. S® his pr®p®sal is adequate and
she~uld be passed by y®ur C®rnmittee, se that it can be heard by the
Council.
Twa things are obui®us if this increase d®es n®t happen:
• the "little ®I' ladies" whe say they cannot aff®rd t® pay m®re
pr®perty teases l#6~D use buses, eat Benior lunches and use ®the~° seni®r
activities will s®®n n®t be able t® use any ®f th®se services since the
C®unty will n®t be able to fund them and they urill have t® be
cancelled.
• if the County Csauncil wants t® get d®Ilars f®r needed programs
in the future frem the e~lay®r and his adrninistrati®aa, the C®uncil must
supp®rt the {play®r's pr®p®sal n®w.
understand that s®ane Contnnittee naennbers want t® defer this
decisi®n until the Administrati®a~ completes a review of other taa~-
related subjects. fihis is unnecessary and inappr®priate. It is tia>rae t®
pass this increase n®a,u. fihis increase will glue the C®unty ~2.~ aniUi®n
and is vital to a dwindling budget and is eery fair.
