lVl~larna O Puna is a flawai 'i n.onprofit corporation and a SO1(cx3) grassroots

?~arne means "taste care of ~aaaia", our activities pond irtterests ~e not geographity
limited. Among other interests, we support preservation of significant sates (both
historical and ecological) and parks developnxent. It is for these reasons tl'at we are
subneittang testiraaot~y in support of Resolute°~ 149-01.
The "dvhereases" of the resolution itself make a very good case for why we should
support Congresswoman ]v€ink's 11906. In addition, we tivould like to poirnt out several
other reasons why we believe the Hawai 'i County Council sh®uld pass this resolution:

parks infrastructtu~, the unachieved levels of service, and the prohibitive c®sts of
developing new parks facilities. :ff the federal governnnent acquires the g45 ages, vve •
