Senate dills 996 ~ 997 would bypass the due process of law that is vital to our system of checks and balances. These bills would allow felony charges to be filed- without the requirement of a grand jury or a preliminary hearing: an erosion of our basic rights. i~9ost importantly, this resolution should not have been waived through with®ut being first heard "an Corr'rnittee. It committee hearing would have begin this process of informing the Public so they had ample time to exp-rasa their opinion. The process of waiving it through Connmittee may be seen as a lack of due process at the County level. Tease vote against resolution 1 ~~-~1 today.
