HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 153 Draft 01 2000-2002 IZLSOLUTIOl®11®TO. ~ O:~ RESOLUTION FOR THE DISPOSITION OF A HOUSE LOCATED AT AHALANUI PARK TO HO`OULU LAHUI, INC., A HAWAII NONPROFIT CORPORATION. WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii has acquired a parcel of land to be developed, known as Ahalanui Park, situated at Laepao`o-Puua, Puna, Hawaii, and designated as Tax Map Key: (3)1-4-02:06; and WHEREAS, the Ahalanui Park Master Plan to develop this park calls for the removal of an existing house; and WHEREAS, after examination, it was determined that it would not be financially feasible to renovate this house into a structure compatible with the park; and WHEREAS, Ho`oulu Lahui, Inc., is a nonprofit 501-C(3) organization formed in 1995 with the purpose of "awakening Hawaiian culture, values, beliefs and lifestyle"; and WHEREAS, Ho`oulu Lahui, Inc. has been conducting cultural and educational programs in the area of the Ahalanui Park and is in need of a facility; and WHEREAS, on December 1, 2000, the County entered into an agreement with Ho`oulu Lahui, Inc. donating this house to Ho`oulu Lahui, Inc. at the County's cost for the removal and relocation of this structure in an "as is" condition; and WHEREAS, the relocation site is located across the Kaimu-Kapoho Road from Ahalanui Park on land owned by Kamehameha Schools/Bishop Estate; and WHEREAS, the removal and relocation cost of $15,000.00 will be provided from funds received from the Federal Emergency Management Act (FEMA) for this development of Ahalanui Park; and WHEREAS, section 2-120, Hawaii County Code, permits the Council by resolution to direct the Finance Director to negotiate the disposal of real property to nonprofit agencies; and WHEREAS, section 2-131, Hawaii County Code, authorizes the Director of Finance to dispose of County equipment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, that it authorize the Director of Finance to dispose of that house located at Ahalanui Park and allow it to be removed and relocated across the Kaimu-Kapoho Road from Ahalanui Park on land owned by Kamehameha SchoolsBishop Estate, utilizing funds provided by the Federal Emergency Management Act (FEMA) for this development of Ahalanui Park, in accordance with section 2-120 and 2-131, Hawaii County Code. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk transmit a copy of this Resolution to (1) Ho`oulu Lahui, Inc., BOX 2177, Pahoa, Hawaii, 96778; (2) the Director of Finance; and (3) the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation.
