Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 145-01, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 145-01, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 415, dated November 5, 2001, amends Ordinance No. O 1-59, the Salary Ordinance, to
amend the pay rates for the Student Intern, Student Helper I, and the Senior Community Services
Aid classes from $5.25 to $5.75 and the hourly pay rate for the Student Helper II from $5.75 to
$6.25.
The aforementioned amendments to the Salary Ordinance reflects Act 279 of the Session Laws
of Hawaii 2001, which amended Section 387-2 Minimum Wages of the Hawaii Revised
Statutes by increasing the State of Hawaii minimum hourly wage beginning January 1, 2002.
Pursuant to Article 3, Section 3-13, Hawaii County Charter, interim amendments to the
Ordinance establishing the pay plan for the County may be by resolution of the Council provided
a revised Salary Ordinance is enacted at least once annually.
For informational purposes, Mr. Tyler voted kanalua twice.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purposes and intent of Resolution No. 145-O1
and recommends its adoption.
