WHEREAS, the Friends of the Zoo has donated a male steer to the Pana`ewa Rainforest Zoo; and
WHEREAS, the male steer named "Motley", which has an estimated value of $3,000, will be used for
educational and display purposes; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHI=REAS, the Department of Parks & Recreation recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NOW, THERIiFORE, BE IT RESOLVE® ~Y THE COUNCIL OF SHE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii
accepts this donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation be sent to Ms. Jean Curtis, President,
Friends of the Zoo, P.O. Box 738, Kea`au, Hawaii 96749, acknowledging this generous donation.
