The developer, I~ealakehe Associates, has since defaulted on their contract with the Cour?ty. On 8/29/O1, the County's Corporatian Counsel notified the developer that the aforementioned contract is canceled. The County niay now be able to proceed with alternative development of the site for golf course or other use compatible with the Governor's Executive Order, which conveys the property for water reclamation purposes- We are currently awaiting direction from the May<rr regarding how the County intends to proceed with development of the reclamation site. This cauld potentially utilize the majority of the effluent cuxrerltly generated by the plant. The County has also recently been working with the Bureau of Reclamation (130R) and several other governrment agencies and community groups to develop constructed wetlands in thy; buffer zone recently acquired through Executive Order from the Governor. 'l°he repair work to Grit Classifier No. 2 has been cornpletcd and the County is currently in thcprocess of re-installing the Grit Classifier. Repair tv the Chit Classifier consisted of re-building of the entire housing utilizing Type 316 Stainless Steel. Braining of the pump cola in itself is not considered to be abnormal since colutnns for deep weld pumping systenns are often designed such that the coltarnn is drained when the pump is shut off `The County will be installing an. automatic AirNacuum relief valve on the discharge header in order to allow venting of air (cutreattly, zzo provisions were made for release of air in the pump discharge header) and is currently in the prcNcess of procurement of the material for installation on the header. Please be advised however, that this schedule is only an estimate, since the actual schedule may vary significantly depending on funding availability and coordination with the State DOT Highway's proposed highway widening project which continues to experience delays.
