The County Council wants to raise the minimum
tax on lots:, including those in 1"€awaiian Ocean
View estates, to one hundred dollars per lot. If y~~u look at the sales
over the past two years, you will find that at least 35 lots have been Sold for
loss than $2000, and many sold for less than $1200. It is unconscionable to
tax such lots at an annual rate of $100., while taxing; other properties at one
percent. I do not believe this bill will withstand a constitutional challenga:.
The roads are privately maintained, power and phone service do not servo all
lots and the governor recently took $1,500,000 that was earmarked for a well
in HOVE and spent it on Oahu, committing us to catchment water fur Lhc
foreseeable future.
I own several lots in this subdivision and will certainly explore a lawsuit if
this bill is enacted.
