Dear Chairman Arakaki and Mister Konishi:
I am returning Bill 121 (Draft 3) without my signature. Bill 121 as we originally submitted it
addressed concerns about people not able to pay higher taxes, the disabled, and useless lands.
I feel that the amendments made to the bill result in a measure that is not fair and equitable to
the people of this county. We `will continue to pursue revisions to the real property tax code
as a whole with emphasis, as I stated before, on making our real property tax system as fair
and equitable as possible. That has always been my goal, and that goal still stands. I look
forward to working with the County Council to achieve this.
