PLAN THAT WILL PROVIDE A NEW CROP FOR HAWAI`I'S FARMERS AND A NEW INDUSTRY FOR

Comm. 371: HAWAII GOLD CACAO TREE, INC.'S (HGCT), REQUEST TO DO A PRESENTATION
From Richard J. Oszustowicz, Chairman, Hawaii Gold Cacao Tree, Inc., dated August 10, 2001,
stating that for the past three years they have researched and studied the farming and processing of
cacao and the manufacturing of cocoa by-products and chocolate in Hawaii. Requests an
opportunity to make a presentation on their plans for farming and processing cacao and
manufacturing chocolate in Hawaii; giving an update on their most recent activities; informing of
the development of an education and resource center for cacao farmers to use in order to discuss
issues, learn techniques, and conduct workshops in conjunction with the State of Hawaii
Agricultural Department, U. S. Department of Agriculture, and the Pacific Basin Agricultural
Resource Center and the development of a strategy to promote sustainable cacao farming on the Big
Island and the State of Hawaii.
