I would Iikc to e~pa~ss our support for the resolution opposing the deployrraent of the US
Navy's Surveillance 'Towed Army Sensor System Low Frequency Active Sonar. As so
little is known about its effects on our tnarit~ rnagrirrlals and other rneYnbers of our reef
population and ~+hat is known appears to show serioals negative effects, we f~l it is wise
to remain ova the side of caution end do all in our power to protect our marine
eilvirortirilent and the anirrlals it supports fr®m any disruption.
PJe make our living running SCtJl3A charters along the Iona Coast, and have for the
past 28 years. ~r dolphin and whale coenrnurtities and annual visitors are a large part of
thereason-our clients cornc back over and over- to obserae these magnificent animals in
their natural surroundings. We must do our utxs9ost to protect thcln frotr~ any harasse~ntnt
of a~,y kind.
