On several occasions the Green Party of Hawai' i has appeared before the Federal Court in Honolulu as one of the litigants opposing the Navy's SURTASS LFA sonar program. All the scientific data convinces us that this technology will do immitigable harm to marine mammals. And that there are better technological alternatives to meet the needs of national defense. We hope the Council will pass this resolution and join the many organizations, scientists, and government leaders who likewise want to stop the SURTASS LFA sonar program.
