Thank you very much for the job that you and the newly formed Environmental Management Commission have been
doing in regards to solid waste and wastewater issues. [t is imperative that the County Council, your division, and the
Environmental Management Commission work well together and are in constant communication. Thanks to your
leadership as well as Commission Chairperson Barbara Bell, [ am very confident that this will take place, and in doing so
the people of the County of Hawaii will be well served.
As the Chairman of the Parks and Environmental Management Committee, I would like to have periodical status reports
from you and the Commission especially in regards to the status of the hltegrated Solid Waste Management Plan, and the
closure of the East Hawaii landfill. I would like to invite you to the next committee meeting as listed below:
Date: January 23, 2002 (Wednesday)
Time: 1:00 p.m.
Place: County Council Room
At this meeting 1 would appreciate a status update report to these two very important issues. [know that you and the
Commission has been working hard on this, and the Park and Environmental Management Committee would sincerely
appreciate and update and status report.

Commission, and the County Council.
