Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
The offices of the Corporation Counsel, Aging, and the Department of Civil Service are
currently located at the Hilo Lagoon Centre in office condominiums owned by the
County of Hawaii. With the planned move of the respective offices to the County and
former JC Penney (Aupuni Center) buildings, it will no longer be necessary to retain
these properties.
If this resolution is adopted, we plan to sell the properties at a public auction with an
upset price established through an independent appraisal. The assessed values of these
properties total $894,620. The County pays $44,295 annually in common area
maintenance (CAM) fees.
We believe that it would be advantageous at this time to sell the County's properties at
the Hilo Lagoon Centre occupied by the offices and department that will be moving.
Should you have any questions, I will be happy to discuss them with you. Thank you.
Sincerely yours,
t,
William Takaba
