Your Committee on Human Services and Economic Development, to which was referred
Resolution No. 128-01, "Relating to the Designation of Enterprise Zones (EZ) on the Big
Island of Hawai`i," reports as follows:
Resolution No. 128-01, transmitted by Research & Development Director Jane Testa via
Communication No. 345, dated September 11, 2001, proposed the adoption of a
resolution to expand the boundaries of five (5) enterprise zones-Kona I, Kona II,
Hilo-Puna, Hamakua, and Kohala-to promote job retention and job growth and to
stimulate business and industrial growth.
Amendment of the boundary delineations for the five (5) Enterprise Zones identified in
Exhibit A and Exhibit B (maps) attached to Resolution No. 128-01 will enable additional
businesses to participate in the Enterprise Zone Program.
Your Committee on Human Services and Economic Development is in accord with the
purpose and intent of Resolution No. 128-01 and recommends its adoption.
