Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Mr. George D. Curtis of Council District 1 to the
Hawaii County Board of Appeals. Mr. Curtis is a 37-year resident of Hawaii. He
retired from the University of Hawaii as a researcher and instructor. He currently
serves as a volunteer Tsunami Consuitant for the Hawaii County Civil Defense
Agency. He has served with the American Red Cross as a member of fihe Board
of Directors and with the Honomu Village Board. He currently serves as a
commander and pilot with the Civil Air Patrol, and is a science advisor with the
Pacific Tsunami Museum. Mr. Curtis states that he is a member of the
Republican Party and if confirmed, he will replace Mr. Harold Tanouye whose
term expired on December 31, 2001. Mr. Curtis will serve a term to expire on
December 31, 2006.
