Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the Hawaii County Salary Commission:
C®unci! Diistricfi 4 - Mr. Gerald M, Kita is a 36-year resident of Hawaii and a former chairman of the
Hawaii County Salary Commission. Mr. Kita is eligible to serve on this commission again, as it has
been over two years since his last term expired (Section 13-4. b, Hawaii County Charter). He currently
is a Public Housing Supervisor for the State of Hawaii Housing Program (DBEDT/HCDC). Mr. Kita is
a member of the Waiakea Lions Club, and states that he is a member of the Democratic Party. If
confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2006, replacing Mr. Mark Nakashima.
C®unci! ®istrict 7 Ms. Kaliko Chun is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. Ms. Chun has served as the
Community Liaison for State Senator Lorraine Inouye and prior to that, she served as a State House
Legislative Aide for Representative Virginia Isbell. She currently does part time multiple duties for her
family business :Burge, Inc. Ms. Chun is a member of the Advisory Council for the Queen Liliuokalani
Children's Center, a delegate to the Aha'oni Hawaii (Native Hawaiian Convention) and a member of
the Coalition of Hawaiian Organizations. She has served as past director for Hui Na'au'ao and past
vice chair for the Kailua Village Design Commission. Ms. Chun states that she is not affiliated with
any political party. If confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2006, replacing Mr.
Rodney Watanabe.
