Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 157-01, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 157-O1, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 455, dated December 6, 2001, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the Friends of
the Zoo.
The Friends of the Zoo has graciously donated one male steer named "Motley" for educational
and display purposes to the Department of Parks & Recreation for the Pana`ewa Rainforest Zoo.
The value of this donation is estimated at $3,000.00.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Ms. Jean Curtis, President, Friends of the Zoo, P.O. Box
738, Kea`au, Hawaii 96749, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 157-O1
and recommends its adoption.
