Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 158-01, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 158-01, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 456, dated December 12, 2001, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the Shudokan
Judo Club.
The Shudokan Judo Club has graciously donated tatami mats for the use of various martial arts
programs as well as the senior citizen exercise classes to the Department of Parks ~i Recreation
for the Waiakea Recreation Center. The value of this donation is estimated at $20,000.00.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Michael Hayashi, Head Instructor and Mr. Gregg
Yonemori, Instructor, Shudokan Judo Club, 494 Kalanikoa Street, Unit I3, Hilo, Hawaii 96720,
acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 158-01
and recommends its adoption.
