Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
I received a communication from Mr. Gerald Kita, our Hawaii County Salary
Commission nominee, that he will be unable to attend the Council confirmation
hearing on February 21, 2002. He has a meeting in Honolulu with the Director of
Housing and Urban Development from Washington, D.C., which cannot be
rescheduled.
I would like to apologize for the inconvenience and request that Mr. Kita's
confirmation be deferred until the March 8, 2002, Council meeting.
