Curtis Tyler, III, HSAC Vice President i SUBJECT: Status of FISAC RxecA~ti:~-~ Cotyaauittee Action re: III.B. 1256, ?42eI~1?aaag to Beverage Contaaaaer:~~~.:~:.,sits r_; For your information, at the February 8, 20G? meeting ofthe HSAC Executive Committee, member counties provided an update on the status of ec~nsi~~er~?tior~ of-state legislation, H.B. 1256, relating to beverage container deposits for inclusion in the 2Q0; l ISAC Legislative Package, as follows: • The City & County of Honolulu approved H.B. 1256 for inclusion izs t~:^ ~ L<~; ~ legislative package in January, 2002. • The Hawaii County Council approved this measure in the PW&IRC; it will be taken up by the full Council on February 21, 2002. • The Kauai County Council is taking up this measure on February 14, 2002; it is ~~~~c~>;;~~<-?.~ pass. • The Maui County Council has assigned this measure to its Committee of the ~Aa~> > t3<:~>. not yet been placed on the agendas of upcoming Maui County Council meetings ; ~~<:F ~ 26`h or March 5`h If this state legislation is not approved by all four counties, it will not be added to I1 > X002 legislative package for purposes of HSAC lobbying and testimony.
