Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution No. 163-02, transmitted
by Mayor Harry Kim per Communication No. 475, dated January 9, 2002, regarding the
naming of streets in the County of Hawaii, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 163-02 authorizes the approval of the street name for the roadway within
Hale Ke`eke`e Subdivision, Ke`eke`e l st and 2nd, South Kona, Hawaii.
The Planning Commission at its December 6, 2001 meeting approved the name for the
roadway in Exhibit "A" as follows:
Hale Ke`eke`e Place - after the ahupua`a in which the subdivision
is located; literally, houses in Ke`eke`e
Pursuant to Section 22-35, Article 2, Chapter 22 of the Hawaii County Code, the Council
is authorized to Aadopt street names for Hawaii County's unnamed roadways.
Committee Member Curtis Tyler made a "friendly" amendment to insert an okina in the
word ahupua`a.
Your Committee did not entertain further discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Planning concurs with the intent and purpose of Resolution No. 163-
02, as amended to Resolution No. 163-02, Draft 2, and recommends its adoption.
