SUBJECT: MARIJUANA ERADICATION MISSION FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY
2002
The Hav~eaii Police Department conducted a marijuana eradication mission on January
22-25, 2002, in East Ha~neaii.
As required by Resolution No. 46-01, reports indicating the number of plants eradicated
and the number of complainfis received from the public, the type of complaint and fibs
complaint disposition are attached.

Loud Helicopter noise near her house. Caller said that she knows her neighbor grows marijuana plants
and wants the plants removed. She said that the Police and their helicopters are welcome anytime, she
just wants them to do it as fast as they can.

Helicopter flying low near his residence for 5 minutes. Was concerned about his horse and the loud
noise. Said he was going to video tape the helicopter.

Comments:
Spoke with the spotter, Officer Steven CORREIA, about the complaint. He said that they were at least
a 1/2 mile away from any homes and that at no time did he see a horse. Officer CORREIA said that
#hey were in the area for not more than 5 minutes.

Complaint:
Helicopter flying low near her residence. Caller said that she was riding her horse when helicopters
flew over. Said that helicopter "Darted" down toward a vacant property. Caller said that she wanted
officers to fly higher and walk the officers into the patch.

Helicopter left after removing plants.
Comments:
Caller was advised that by walking officers into the patch, the helicopter would be in the area for longer
periods of time. As compared to 5 minutes, it may take 20-30 minutes. Caller requested we call her
prior to any eradication mission. Caller was advised that if we locate marijuana plants near her
property, we would make an effort to notif her prior to removing the plants.
