Choice #2 -Vote No, the pre-approved zoned Puna Market Shopping Center will
be built also providing jobs and services.
Choice ##3 -Defer while developer W.>E€. Shipman moves Gateway to the Ball
Park.
Choice #3 is Best Choice oear lf2eco,ngnendation: Why?
The "People" have spoken, they say we want development and they also want
good traffic. The best location is next to the ball park. Over 1,700 signed
petition.
If Jim McCully wants to build a shopping center just pass the intersection,
why can't Gateway be built right pass the intersection or next to the ball

If we say no to Gateway, then the McCully center moves ahead. It's really a
chess game. With Gateway not proceeding then McCully's center will be built
quickly to provide jobs and services. (Location #2 See Exhibit Two)
If you say yes to Gateway, then where do you find another $20+ million to
build another By-Pass to By-Pass the By-Pass?
Puna's population will be bigger than Hilo within 10 to 15 years. Let's create a great
Keaau community and plan for good traffic, please defer Gateway and build it next to the
ball park. (See Exhibit ®rre) Imagine Puna will have three high schools and Hilo will have
two high schools.
For Puna's future, please defer motion again or vote NO. Why did we have to defer this
motion four (4) times, it's because we all want new business but we don't want to cause a
traffic for Puna. Puna deserves better!
