Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Bill No. 173, reports as follows:
Bill No. 173, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 511,
dated February 1, 2002, amends Ordinance No. 01-56, as amended, the Capital Budget, ending
June 30, 2002, by adding the following project:
PUBLIC WORKS:
ADA Curb Ramp Compliance Program, Phase II 110-399-5399.91 $1,700,000
Funds for this project shall be provided from general obligation bonds, capital projects fund-fund
balance and/or other sources.
Funds will be used to replace existing nonconforming curb ramps with ADA compliant curb
ramps in response to a settlement agreement connected with Russel, et al. v. County of Hawai`i.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 173 and
recommends it pass first reading.
