Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Communication No. 512, reports as follows:
Communication No. 512, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated
February 6, 2002, authorizes the acceptance of donations from the Lehua Jaycees and the
Wainaku-Kaiwiki Community Association.
The Lehua Jaycees has graciously donated $50.00 to the Department of Parks & Recreation
Hawai`i County Band.
The Wainaku-Kaiwiki Community Association has graciously donated an electric stove and
kitchen supplies to the Department of Parks & Recreation, Wainaku Gym. The value of these
donations is estimated at$1,017.68.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawai`i County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, Pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (c), of the Hawai`i County Code, any
donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the department of
finance shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Lehua Jaycees, P.O. Box 1778, Hilo, Hawaii 96721
and the Wainaku-Kaiwiki Community Association, Susan O'Neill, President, 2390 Kaiwiki
Road, Hilo, Hawai`i 96720, acknowledging these generous donations.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the $50.00 donation from the Lehua
Jaycees and the electric stove and kitchen supplies from the Wainaku-Kaiwiki Community
Association.
