Your Committee on Finance,towhich was referred Resolution No. 174-02, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 174-02,transmitted by Director of.Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 515, dated February 8, 2002, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of . .
more than one fiscal year for a multi-year contract of the golf cart operations at the Hilo
Municipal Golf Course.
The Department of Parks &Recreation wishes to amend the current contract of the golf cart
operations at the Hilo Municipal Golf Course, which will expire on May 31, 2002. The
amendment to the contract will be for a twelve month extension for the period June 1, 2002 to
May 31, 2003. The extension is necessary for the Departments of Parks &Recreation and
Finance to evaluate specifications, combine the contract agreements for the golf carts, pro shop,
and driving range into one bid, and complete the bidding process for services to begin on June 1,
2003. The previously mentioned services are currently being provided by a single vendor.
Pursuant to Section 10-11, Hawai`i County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation
requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year must be approved by
resolution.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 1.74-02
and recommends its adoption.
