HENDRICKS TO THE POLICE COMMISSION From Mayor Harry Kim, dated February 25, 2002, submitting for confir~~nation the following appointment to the Hawaii County Police Commission: deter L. ~dendricks of Council District 9. A 37-year resident of Hawaii, Mr. Hendricks is a retired Information Specialist with the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), Division of Aquatic Resources, and presently serves on various organizations. 1-Ie states that he is not affiliated with any political party and, if confirmed, will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2006. He will be replacing Clarence Mills, whose term has expired. STATEMENTS FROM TIIF. PUBLIC ON ITEMS ON TIIE AGENDA Comm. 102.37: MARIJUANA ERADICATION MISSION REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY 2002 (conducted in East ILawai`i) From Police Chief James S. Correa, dated February 12, 2002, transmitting the above report, as required by Resolution No. ~6-01. The attached reports indicate the number of plants eradicated and the number of complaints received from the public, the type of complaint and the complaint disposition. Comm. 520: SUPPLEMENTAL SUMMARY OF INDEBTEDNESS OF THE COUNTY OF HAVVAI`I AS OF DECEMBER 27 2001 From Finance Director UVilliam Takaba, dated February 12, 2002, certifying and transmitting the above document, in accordance with HRS §47C-3. The closing of the $6,370,000 Improvement District No. 17, Kaloko Subdivision, 2001 Special Assessment Refunding Bond on December 27, 2001, requires the preparation of this report and is included. Concurrence by the Finance Committee Chair and the Corporation Counsel are also attached. FC-29 Page 2 March 7, 2002 Comm. 530: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 01-56, AS AMENDED, (Bill 179) RELATING TO PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS AND FINANCING TI-IER.EOF FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 2001 to JUNE 30, 2002 (by appropriating $60,000 to construct a restroom at the Waiakea-Uka Park). From Councilman James Y. Arakaki, dated February 21, 2002, transmitting the above bill. The project will include the construction of a restroom to serve outdoor activities, e.g, ball field and playground. In order to serve outdoor activities, presently, the restrooms in the gym must remain open. Volunteers will construct the restroom and the appropriation is for materials only. The estimated total cost to construct the restroom would be $175,000. Comm. 532: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 01-55, AS AMENDED, TIIE (]Bill 180) OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAII FOR TI-IE FISCAL, YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2002 (by appropriating the excess fuel tax revenues collected in fiscal year 2000-2001, which needs to be transferred to the Capital Project Fund in the amount of $239,315.61) From Finance Director William Takaba, dated February 19, 2002, transmitting the above bill. Comm. 535: DONATION OF 500 ART PRINTS (VALUED AT $15 EACH) TO THF, OFFICE OF THE MAYOR AND THE DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT BY GWENDOLYN O'CONNOR, ON BEHALF OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF VOLCANO From Finance Director William Takaba, dated February 22, 2002, requesting Council's approval of the above-described donation, which will be used to stimulate the economy and to promote Hawaii as a tourist destination. The donor has stipulated that the art prints, (250 entitled "Kona Mangoes" and 250 entitled "Secret Fire") be given away to others and never sold. Comm. 536: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 01-55, AS AMENDED, TIDE (Bill 183) OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAII FOR TIDE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2002 (by appropriating an $11,893 HCFD Equipment Purchase Grant to purchase 17 24-volt reciprocating saws with accessories) From Finance Director William Takaba, dated February 21, 2002, transmitting t1Ze above-described ordinance bill. The Federal Department of Transportation through the State Department of Transportation State and Community Highway Safety Program is providing the funds. The new equipment will reduce injury and mortality to victims pinned in automobile accidents by reducing the extrication times.
