RL: Support of Council Bill 62
1'he Iiacvaii Anthurium Industry Association is in support- of the
County Administration's proposal to build a post-harvest treatment
facility on the Big Island. The use of such a facility to trest
tropical fruits, vegetables, foliage and flowers would greatly
enhance the development of agriculture for this island and the
State of Hawaii.
Our Association would also appreciate research to see if irradiation
would be effective in destroying free-living as wel]. as parasitic
insect pests of anthurium plants and plant material.
We appreciate the County's initiative Lo ensure the future of
agriculture by their proposal to construct a poet-harvest treatment
facility on the Big Island.
The klawaii Anthurium industry Association sincerely request that
Lhe County Council support- and approve Council Bil]. 62.
Thank you.
