ADMINISTRATION (Adding the Department of Environmental Management
Under the Direct Supervision of the Managing Director and Deleting Sewer and
Solid Waste Functions.from the Department of Public Works)
From Acting Director Galen M. Kuba, PE, Department of Environmental
Management, dated February 26, 2002, transmitting the above bill. This
amendment would recognize the existence of the Department of Environmental
Management, and that the Department of Public Works is responsible for all
County public works projects except for those relating to the Department of
Water Supply.
Comm. 543: A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PARKS AND
(Bill 189) RECREATIONAL FACILITY SCHEDULE, CHAPTER 15,
SECTION 15-68.1, HA~~f AI`I COUNTY CODE 1983 (1995 EDITION),
RELATING TO NAMING THE WAIAKEA-UKA GYM LOCATED AT
WAIAKEA-UKA PARK. "STANLEY COSTALES, SR., WAIAKEA-UKA
GYM" IN HONOR OF STANLEY COSTALES SR.
From Council Chair James Y. Arakaki, dated March 5, 2002, transmitting the
above bill. Informs there is strong public support for the renaming of Wai~kea-
Uka Gym in honor of Stanley Costales, Sr. Also submits a petition with a total
of 241 signatures supporting the name change.

Comm. 543.1: From Mrs. Roberta Costales, dated October 28, 2001, on behalf of her family,
giving her permission to Mr. Patrick Pacheco to use the name of the late Stanley
Costales, Sr., in his efforts to rename the Waiakea-Uka Gymnasium. Feels it is
a touching tribute to know that community members wish to remember and
honor Stanley Costales, Sr., as one who had devoted his life helping young
people of the community through sports, by naming the Waiakea-Uka
Gymnasium in his memory.
