Forwarded for your consideration is a draft ordinance that amends Chapters 20 and 21 by replacing
Department of Public Works with the Department of Environmental Management. It also recognizes,
by definition, the existence of the Environmental Management Commission.
The Environmental Management Commission, at its January 22, 2002 meeting, had recommended
approval of this ordinance.

DEFINITION FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT COMMISSION
At the January 22, 2002 meeting of the Environmental Management Commission, the
commissioners present unanimously approved the subject bill and recommended that it be forwarded
to the Hawaii County Council for adoption.
