VdIO-I~~~A~S, the former Waimea Courthouse Complex, identified as TMK: (3) 6-7-02:25, is
under County jurisdiction by Executive Order No. 3818, and located in South Kohala, Hawaii; and
WFI~F2~64S, the current occupant of the former Waimea Tax Office Building, which is situated
within the Complex, intends to vacate its premises; and
WO-I~R~AS, the I-listoric Hawaii Foundation, a nonprofit organization, has expressed its desire
to lease that facility from the County and use the building for community meetings and preservation
related activities; and
WNEI~EAS, Section 2-120 (a)(2) of the Hawaii County Code provides that the Council of the
County of Hawaii may, by resolution approved by a majority of its members, direct the finance
director to negotiate the lease of real property to nonprofit organizations, at such rentals and on such
terms and conditions as deemed proper; and
Wh6~I~IsAS, Section 2-120 (b) provides such lease of real property to nonprofit organizations
may be made without the notice or appraisal as required in Chapter 2, Article 19 of the Hawaii
County Code.

that in accordance with Chapter 2, Article 19, Section 2-120 (a)(2) of the Hawaii County Code, the
director of Finance is hereby authorized to negotiate a lease with the Historic Hawaii foundation, a
nonprofit organization, without notice or appraisal, for the former Waimea Tax Office Building in South
Kohala.
BE IT 1=URTH~FZ RES®LV~~, that the Honorable Harry Kim, Mayor of the County of Hawaii,
is hereby authorized to execute said lease.
IT FURTHER RCS®LVE®, that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit copies of
this resolution to the Departments of Finance and Parks and Recreation and to the Historic Hawaii
Foundation, P.O. Box 1658, Honolulu, Hawaii 96806.
