This grant will be used to combat the methamphetamine drug problem in the County of Hawaii by conducting various sting operations. The cur•r4nt occupant intends to vacate its premises and the Historic Hawaii Foundatio;~ has expressed its desire to lease the facility from the County, to be used for community meetings and preservation related activities. The full time work of the Federal Victims of Crime Act counselor warrants full time clerical support, but the work assignment no longer requires stenography skills. Comm. 565: RESOLUTION CREATING TWO (2) DEPUTY PROSECUTING ATTORNEY (Res. 188-02) (TEMPORARY) POSITIONS FOR THE OFFICE OF THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEY (for the Conununity Gun Violence Prosecution Program -one position for Kona and one position for Hilo) From Finance Director William Takaba, dated March 20, 2002, transmitting the above resolution. The positions will be assigned to facilitate the rapid, responsive, and effective prosecution of serious violent crimes involving guns. Funding will be available through the U.S. Department of Justice's Community Gun Violence Prosecution Program Grant and the State's Criminal Career Program Grant. Comm. 567: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 20, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY (Bill 200) CODE 1983 (1995 EDITION), RELATING TO SOLID WASTE FEES (by transferring the solid waste.-.fee setting authority from the County Council to the Environmental Management Commission• and (Bill 201) AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (1995 EDITION), RELATING TO SEWER SERVICE CHARGES (by transferring the sewer service charges rate setting authority from the County Council to the Environmental Mana~.ement Commission) From Acting Environmental Management Department Director Galen Kuba, dated March 18, 2002, transmitting the above bills. The Environmental Management Commission at its January 22, 2002 meeting recommended approval of the ordinance bills. This conversion of forty (40) School Crossing Guard positions will reduce the repetitive paperwork generated by the annual rehiring and separation process and will develop a more stable and better workforce.
