Your Committee on Parks & Environmental Management, to which was referred Communication
No. 523, and attached Resolution No. 176-02 reports as follows:
The purpose of Resolution No. 176-02 is to authorize I3ig Island Toyota, Inc. to extend the public
sewer to Wiwo`ole Street, Waiakea, South Hilo, Hawaii, pursuant to Chapter 21, Section 21-26.1
Communication No. 523 is from Dennis K. W. Lee, Director, Department of Public Works, dated
February 1 1, 2002, transmitting Resolution No. 176-02, for the Council's review and consideration.
Committee Council Member J. Curtis Tyler, III expressed concern about laterals being provided to
properties along the sewer line extension, and if this would mandate hookups to these provided
laterals. Peter Boucher, Director of the Wastewater Division, informed Mr. Tyler that, yes, these
laterals will be provided and that hookups will be mandated.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 176-02, and
recommends that it be adopted.
