Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Ms. Deborah Ward of Council District 6 to the
Hawaii G€~unty Planning Commission. Ms. Ward is a 35-year resident of Hawaii
and is employed by the University of Hawaii, Cooperative extension Servic>;;, as
a County extension Agent. She currently serves as a board member for the
Hawaii Organic Farmers Association. She is also a former board member of the
Sierra C;ub and the Hilo P!ana Young Farmers Association (now known as the
Sig Island Sustainable Communities Association). Ms. Ward states that she is
not affiliated with any po!':tical party. If confirmed, Ms. Ward will serve a term to
expire on December 31, 2006. She will fill a vacancy created by the expiration of
Ms. Mildred Mosher's term.
