Re: resolution Authorizing County to inter into an Agreement
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the
State Department of Transportation for the Hawaii County Fire Department Child
protective Seats Grant. This grant will be used to purchase child restraint seats that
will be used in ambulances in order to provide the safest transport available for
children under the age of four.
The bill for an ordinance to appropriate this grant has just passed 2nd and final
reading by Council. Because of the timeliness to enter into an agreement, we would
like to request a waiver from the Fi-Hance committee so this resolution can be heard
at the Council meeting scheduled for April 17, 2002.

Pursuant to Section 1(g) of Rule 4 of tr~c Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced :natter be
waived from the Corr~mittec on Fina!~ce to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter,'ixnely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is gr~=~ted and
the matter pl:~.ced onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is
denied, for w'natevcr reason, I ainderst<~nd the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its futuAe agc~~da.
