WH~R~l~S, the United States of America through the U.S. Department of Justice's E3ureau of
Justice Assistance has authorized funding for the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney's Community
Gun Violence Prosecution Program; and
WO°B~R~AS, this grant will be used to supplement the funding of two (2) Deputy Prosecuting
Afitorney positions which will be assigned to prosecute serious violent crimes involving guns; and
1dU0~~R~AS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain
the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting
action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any
funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to fihose
powers.

that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement for a Grant Contract with the
U.S. Department of Justice.
I`~ ~UR~HER F~~S®~V~D that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to sign the
above-referenced agreement and any related documents on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the
County of Hawaii pursuant to the Hawaii County Charter.
BE IT FURTHIsR RES®LVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit
copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, the
Department of Finance, and the U.S. Department of Justice.
